Inspection Reports
Ofsted
Our school was inspected by Ofsted in November 2023. During the Inspection, a team of five Inspectors visited the school and made a graded judgement in the areas of:
-
Overall Effectiveness
-
Quality of Education
-
Behaviour and Attitudes
-
Personal Development
-
Leadership and Management
During the inspection process, the Inspectors met with students, staff, the senior leadership team and representatives from the governors. All parents/carers and staff were invited to complete a questionnaire so that they could share their views with the Inspectors. In addition to this, Inspectors also conducted curriculum reviews, visited lessons and form time, looked at students’ work and spoke with them about their experiences of school, as well as observing them during structured and unstructured times.
Ofsted themselves define outstanding as a ‘challenging and exacting judgement’, so we are sure that you will understand our delight in being judged as Outstanding across all areas.
Although we appreciate that an Ofsted report cannot provide you with a full understanding of a school community, we do hope that it provides you with a flavour of what makes our school such a special place to learn in and be a part of and how our school vision, values and virtues are lived out by all.

"Pupils are proud to be members of St Bernard’s Catholic Grammar School. They respond enthusiastically to the school’s drive for excellence and high expectations. Pupils enjoy learning. They are well motivated and work hard. This is reflected in the school’s very high academic outcomes for all pupils.

“Catholic social teaching forms an effective backdrop to all the workings of the school community. Human relationships and commitment to mutual respect makes the community of St. Bernard’s a place of witness to the love of God.”
“Students show clear ability to make links between learning in religious education and their everyday lives. This results in students, without exception, engaging fully in their learning and showing exceptional commitment to their own development.”
